...Illustration Friday "play"

Yeah! I actually had an illustration that was perfect for this week- my cover from my picturebook- a story about a family who goes on the wild side- I am making a dummy- a handmade book with finished and drawn out illustrations in hopes of getting a publisher interested. I picked the Tennessee Smoky Mountains for the setting- what an amazing landscape- so lush and green and so different then the deserts of the Southwest. It is a place I hope to go soon, for the landscape, the crafts- mostly baskets- which I weave when I can and the places history- both our nations and my own families- it is where my dad grew up!

  4. I love the quilted elements. I believe that sewing in artwork is just another form of drawing. But in a deeper sense, because the stitch isn't just resting on the surface but becomes apart of the materials that it is binding.
