This dog feels "
safe" enough he wont get caught- to take an afternoon nap on his master's bed! Okay- it is a stretch, but I actually have a paying gig this week and won't have time to do one from scratch! This is my dog, Max, and he does this whether I might walk in on him or not. Actually he prefers the back of the couch, not the seat, he will climb up on the cushions along the back and make a nest for himself. He hasn't done it since we got the new puppy, maybe he thinks he has to clean up his act or he will be replaced! Ha, he ain't feeling so
safe anymore- I can make an argument for anything!
that is just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI like the "feeling" of your picture. I think the use of fabric adds so much to the scene. And then I realized what you had done with the reflection. I enjoy working with fabric and you really hit the right note with me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Loved it! Reminded me of my dogs that were lab mixes named India (for Indian Ink) and Piglet (because of the curly tail she has).
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite piece of yours. I love the reflection, very clever.
ReplyDeletenice perspective on this collage
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a paying gig!!!
ReplyDeleteI love what using fabric adds to this - and the details! What size is this piece?
This is spectacular, Julia. The dog's reflection, the varied textures, the colors.... you are amazing!
ReplyDeleteJulia, beautiful piece. If this is what you come up with when you don't have time to work on anything I can't wait to see something you had pleanty of time to devote to. This is amazing. I love the colors and the softness. Especially like the toiletry bottles on the dresser.

Thanks for all the great comments and even a few questions as well! I actually had this illustration on my site already- don't want you to think I work that fast!
ReplyDeleteThe silver tray and perfume bottles are something my grandma always had sitting on her dresser in her bedroom. The dresser was my other granmother's- a gift for her high school graduation, and now is in my room, and the green flower heart which does hang on it, was a gift from my best friends mother in law.But the room is mad up. The dog is Max, our half Newfoundland/Lab.
How thoroughly wonderful this is! What a terrific style. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe piece is rather small, maybe six inches square.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is great, I love the stitching pattern, and the dog peeking at you from the mirror.
